Looking for Alaska by John Green

YA/fiction; 221 pages

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary: Miles grew up in Florida and lived a very ordinary life. Looking for something different he goes to boarding school in Alabama. Upon arrival he meets his roommate, a scholarship kid who promptly states he is to be called the Colonel and almost immediately nicknames Miles “Pudge”. Next, Miles meets Alaska, the wild, fun, moody, beautiful girl who would change his life forever.

Review: This is my all time favorite John Green book. I think it is because it is the first book by him that I read. It is  a beautiful and heartbreaking story about teenagers who want to live the lives they want. They want to have fun, fall in love, drink booze, and have sex. But we never do get what we want. No matter how hard we try to run from the past it always catches up to us; at the same time, dwelling on the past never works either. It’s a story about acceptance and forgiveness and it is such an amazing story.

Recommendation: Go read it. You won’t regret it.
